Spring 2020 Trend Report

Finally, we can now pack away our puffer coats and sweaters! I personally have been dreaming about the days of wearing flowing skirts and sandals again; those days have become a reality. And now for what we've all been waiting for *insert drum roll* the 2020 Spring/Summer trends! This season, designers have showcased an assortment of different styles from 60's patterns to bralettes, to even corsets. Here are the most popular trends for this Spring and Summer that will help you transform your wardrobe.

HOT PANTS
Make your legs go on for miles with these super short shorts. Chanel, Alexander Wang, Saint Laurent, and more all designed these hot pants. So, if they’re shortening their inseams, we should do most definitely the same. These tiny shorties will definitely give you some extra leg room to breath during these hot summer days.

POLKA DOTS
Fortunately, I haven’t donated my polka dot dress yet. I’ve been wondering if I would ever wear that flowy, girly piece again, but the season has come. This trend was spotted on the runways of Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, and Balmain, where they upgraded the classic style to more stylish shapes and sizes.

STATEMENT NECKLACE
Say goodbye to the dainty jewelry we all know and love because this season is bringing on the big guns. Prada, Gucci, and Hermes have made a clear statement with the chunky, collar necklaces they presented. Don’t be afraid to pull out any oversized necklace, whether it be pearls, seashells, or chains. I promise that they’ll bring a lot of good attention.

BIG BAGS
So long micro-bags of 2019 and hello big bags of 2020! While the micro-bags will be missed , the impracticality of them will certainly not be. Off-White and Bottega Veneta undeniably nailed the saying, “go big or go home,” as they brought out the jumbo-sized staples for this season.

CROCHET
Wait, before you get any crazy thoughts, this is not your grandmother’s crochet. A new and improved twist has been put on the well known beach cover-up material; we've seen dresses, sweaters, tops and more on the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, as well as Jonathan Simkai. An effortless look can be created with plenty of different combinations this S/S 20 season.

60s TIME CAPSULE
It's no secret that each decade usually recurs in fashion; this season has moved on from the 90s and brought in the 60s. The looser, more colorful aesthetic that was defined in the 60s is a major vibe for the S/S season and has been seen in collections by Moschino, Burberry, and Anna Sui. Channel your inner retro and spirited self for this relevant trend this season.

COLORFUL LEATHER
This season is all about color and colorful leather has taken over the runways. Both real and faux are becoming some of the most popular trends of the season. The luxurious colors and textures of these garments are definitely here to stay.

WHITE WONDERS
Visualize a ready-to-wear flowy wedding dress, but transform it into a carefree summer fashion. Embrace your femininity with the delicate, white designs of Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu. The lace trim and dainty flowers are perfect for the summertime dream, but make sure you avoid the red wine.

BRALETTES
The only correct way to wear a blazer this season is to spice it up a little with a bralette. Showing off your midriff won't make you feel too exposed when a blazer is thrown over your shoulders to add the finishing touch. On the other hand, you won't feel too businesslike with the sexy bralette. It's the best of both worlds! Michael Kors and Christian Dior are some of the designers that gave some styling tips for this chic trend.

CORSETRY
Corsets are being taken out of the bedroom this season and I am all for it. This Spring is looking to accentuate everyone's bodies and give the outfit a romantic, Victorian aesthetic. Jason Wu and Dion Lee showcase a variety of different styles for this defining design.

WAISTCOATS
Whether you opt for styling this trend as a layering piece or going braless underneath altogether, the waistcoat is a garment that is making the ultimate comeback. Think Kate Moss in this situation. Pair the waistcoat with a pair of hot pants and you're good to go. This versatile fashion, presented by Saint Laurent and Acne Studios, gives off both effortless, boyish ease, as well as chic elegance.

NEON SIGNS
The highlighter reel will be continuing into the S/S 20 and is sure to be an eye catcher. Neon is taking over and screams loud and obnoxious, but nonetheless, we're all for it. The bright pink, green, and yellow is expressing joy and what's not to love about that?
