Glow Up: Quarantine Edition

Let's face it, we've all thought about the potential glow ups we could have during our times in quarantine. I know that I definitely have had those if only my skin was clearer or if only my style was better thoughts. It can be difficult to fit self-care practices into our busy schedules, however COVID-19 has forced all of us to stay home. So, since there's not much to do, it's a great time to start taking an active role in improving our mental, emotional, and physical health before reentering the world post-quarantine. Here are a few steps to aid in your quarantine glow up. Ladies, hide your men because these glow ups are about to get real.

Step 1: Motivation
It's easy to say that you're going to pop off after quarantine, but it's another thing to actually do it. Let's not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. These quotes should help start up the motivation to become your best self!





Step 2: Participate in Hot Girl Summer
Just because we're quarantined, doesn't mean we can't achieve the summer body we've always wanted. Every shape is beautiful, but in order to achieve this summer bod, we need to feel healthy and fit. I'm not talking about running five miles everyday or going on insane diets. A few ab and leg workouts, as well as some clean eats (of course some cheat days are allowed) will do the trick. I know first hand how hard it is to attain and maintain clear skin. Everyone's skin is different, obviously, so an original skin care routine is needed for this step. Step 4: Silky, Voluminous Hair Routine
Yes, I do want flowing unicorn hair and no, I'm not ashamed. Not all of us are blessed with naturally silky, lustrous hair, but don't worry because if you believe, you can achieve. During these confined times, the only person we need to impress is ourselves. With that being said, we need to start out by withdrawing from heat use. I know, beautiful curls and sleek, straight hair is wonderful, but in order to get healthy hair that lacks split ends, we need to lock those heat products away for now. Step 5: Organize Your Dreams and Goals
Looking great on the outside is not the only thing needed for the glow up. A goal-oriented mindset is also needed. I recently have started creating vision boards, as well as organizing my goals in life. This has cleared up my mind and rambling thoughts of what and who I want to be. It's alright to not know exactly what you want right now or how to live a fulfilling life. Just stop and think about what makes you and only you happy. It's challenging to not think about your loved ones in the equation, but in order to become the person you want to be, it's crucial to consider your happiness first. Start out by brain storming future career, travel, and relationship goals. Write them down or create a vision board. Sooner rather than later, a clear future will be noticeable.

Exploratory Questions:
  1. What goals are you working toward in your life?
  2. When you imagine reaching your goals, what does your life look like?
  3. What images, words, and phrases represent your life when you've achieved your goal?
  4. What will it take to reach your goal?
  5.  How will the process of reaching your goal change you?




Step 6: Bad Bitch Mentality
Last, but certainly not least, a bad bitch mentality is needed to complete the glow up. These steps will all be for nothing if your attitude does not line up. Confidence is key in obtaining the BBM. Having the mindset that you can do anything and everything in this world, even if people tell you that you can't, is the most important building block. Women with a BBM are powerhouses and forces to be reckoned with! Persevering until you succeed will not only help you finish the glow up project, but also help you thrive in life. Great opportunities in life can be disguised as hard work, so don't let hard work get in the way of your success.
